The 1st goal of this program is to complete at least 6 hours of reading by August 1st. Members who reach goal will be awarded, among other things, Raffle ticket towards grand prizes and random weekly prizes, Free ticket to a Pawtucket Red Sox game in August where summer readers receive special recognition on the field, your name on the Library’s honor wall and a chance to win the Boston Bruins raffle.

The Summer Reading Club will continue until Thursday August 27th. The Final Raffle Drawing Friday August 28th.You can also write reviews and see what other Teens are reading! You don’t have to add a review to log your hours! But if you want to share your opinions, that would be great! Thanks!

The Youth Services room in the Stoneham Public Library offer an extensive collection of materials including: books, magazines, audio books on cassette and CD, music CDs, and videos on VHS and DVD. We also have a section of materials for parents and teachers and offer a number of programs and special events for children of all ages. Please check our calendar of events for our schedule.


There are several computer stations for patrons to use, all of which have Internet access. Children can use computers to look up books in the catalog, access databases to help them with their homework, or play games.

Library Cards

Stoneham children are eligible for library card when they turn 5. A child’s application must be signed by a parent or legal guardian if they are in fifth grade or younger and the adult must have a valid form of ID such as a license or utility bill so that staff can verify a Stoneham address.

Regular Programs

Regular Programs
STORYTIME for Ages 0+ is a 30-minute program for caregiver and child together featuring songs, fingerplays, stories, followed by playtime. Adults are responsible for the behavior of any children they bring.

STORYTIME Ages 3 and up: Tales for 3s and up is a 30-minute program for children aged 3 and up, incorporating stories, rhymes, songs, fingerplays, followed by playtime. Children attend independently of caregiver.

Grades 4-8:  School Book Groups are book discussion groups that meet on a monthly basis during the school year for approximately 45 minutes.  No registration is suggested. New Members always welcome. A relaxed fun atmosphere, light refreshments served.
TEEN Book Club meets monthly early evenings for approximately 45 minutes. New members are always welcome.

Thanks to aggressive grant writing, and  generous donations from local businesses and Library Friends the Junior Library offers, quality fun filled programs during vacation weeks.
