Smart Workers and Savvy Leaders

Stoneham’s past is filled with the stories of self-made men and women whose achievements were due to their own hard work plus concern for their community. William B. Stevens, the 19 th century historian, wrote about affluent business pioneers. Yet there are other narratives of workers and leaders that added spice and dimension to Stoneham’s legacy. Join us for a new look at the lives of some remarkable residents such as J.W. Barrett, a house painter, who evolved into a gifted artist and photographer.
