Computers

There are nine computer stations and two laptops for patron use. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, and Excel are available on several of these computers as well.

Interlibrary Loan

If a book or video is not listed in the NOBLE catalog, ask our staff for an interlibrary loan. The Reference Librarian will help you find what you need and arrange for it to be sent from another library.

Tax Forms

Federal and state tax forms and publications are available throughout the tax season. The forms can also be downloaded from the irs.gov for the federal and http://www.mass.gov/dor/forms/

Local Newspapers

Back issues of the Stoneham Independent are available on microfiche from July 1874 to present. You can also find the Independent online from 1874-1979. Click here.The library also maintains print copies for one year.
Print copies of the Stoneham Sun are available for one year.

Reader Advisory Service

Staff are available to help you find more of what you like to read. We are happy to find books to suit your reading mood. Patrons may also use the Novelist Fiction Guide to find great new reads. NoveList allows readers to use a favorite author or title as a template to locate other authors and titles of interest. Browse hundreds of theme-oriented book lists for readers at all levels through “Explore Fiction” and look for award-winning and recommended titles in Best Fiction. Patrons can also search for books by entering descriptive terms that appear in subject headings, reviews, and other fields in the title records.You can even search by plot using the “Describe a Plot” feature.

Copiers/Printers/Microfilm

Photo copiers are available for public use. One is located in the hall that separates the Adult Library from the Children’s Room and one is located in the Children’s Room. The cost is $.15/copy.
Library printers are attached to several computers and copies are $.10 for black and white copies and $.50 for color copies. Printers can be found in both the Adult Room and the Children’s Library.
A microfilm reader/printer is available for use by the public. The machine will read both 16 and 35 mm microfilm and can make copies at a cost of 25 cents per page. For a listing of our current microfilm collection holdings, please click here.

Book Discussion Group
Meetings are held on the last Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Stoneham Room. Interested readers may request a copy of the book at the main circulation desk or contact Maureen Saltzman at (781) 438-1324 or email.
Computer Classes
The library provides computer classes free of charge to the public. We cover the basics including how to use a mouse, how to save and attach files, and how to obtain an e-mail account.
