The Road Show in Stoneham!

The Mass. Memories Road Show is a state-wide digital humanities project that documents Massachusetts history through family photographs and stories. In partnership with the Stoneham Public Library and local community organizations, the Road Show arrived in Stoneham on October 16, 2010 and a record breaking number of residents turned out to preserve their memories and take their place in Stoneham history.

Participants were asked to bring 2 or 3 photographs that were important to them to the library on the day of the Road Show. These were digitally scanned and returned, and then some brave souls took the opportunity to be the star of a digital videotape where they told “the stories behind the photos.” The images and video were then indexed and incorporated into an online educational database at Mass. Memories Road Show. Since its launch, the project has gathered more than 2,000 photographs and stories from across the state.
